Large City Apartment Block Goes Green

Southfacing have worked with a leading London developer, Tudorvale Properties, to achieve one of the first Code for Sustainable Homes ratings for a City of London development, the Bezier apartments. The target rating of Level 3 was achieved.

The assessment covered 172 dwellings across private sale and affordable housing. The developer worked hard to achieve as many credits as possible, including specification of low water fittings (harvesting rainwater was not possible due to the unusual shape of the towers), a central energy centre, responsible sourcing of materials, providing a home office in every apartment, and improving the biodiversity of the area. The development will also become one of the first Islington apartment blocks to benefit from kitchen waste recycling.
