SAP Calculations
using NHER
The
UK housing stock is responsible for approximately 30% of all energy
consumed (DTI, 2003). SouthFacing are actively working to reduce
this burden and offer design advice and energy assessments for dwellings.
We
can provide Quality Assured SAP (Standard Assessment Procedure)
energy ratings under the NHER (National Home Energy Rating) scheme.
This scheme assesses the energy efficiency of dwellings against
the new 2006 Part L1A building regulations in England and Wales.
We can offer:
- Advice on
compliance with the Building Regulations 2006
- Authorised
SAP 2005 (and 2002) ratings
- Part L1A
2006 compliance checks (England and Wales)
- Authorised
quality assured outputs (SAP Certificates) to demonstrate compliance
to the building control body
- Draft energy
performance certificates, ready for the introduction of Home Information
Packs in England and Wales in 2007, plus in depth analysis of
energy usage and costs
- Full BREDEM
12 calculation
- Total energy
consumption and running costs
- Use these results to perform detailed low and zero carbon, shared supply (e.g. CHP) and renewable energy studies
Energy Performance
in Non-Domestic Buildings
To calculate
the energy performance of most Non-Domestic buildings, products
such as Carbon Checker will be the appropriate solution due to the level of complexity
required. Carbon Checker has been developed by Southfacing, using the SBEM calculation engine, and is now owned and managed by BuildDesk Ltd. We are also able to provide consultancy using iSBEM, should
this be required.
However, for
more complex building designs or those with innovative Building
Services strategies, full Building Energy Simulation may be required.
Southfacing
Services offer a range of Building Physics and Simulation services
to enable the calculation of energy performance for these complex
buildings. A range of industry standard software products are used
(e.g. TAS) and we can assess energy, comfort, airflow and daylight performance
for all building types.
Southfacing
engineers hold many years experience in this area through working
in research and for leading Consultant Engineers.
Every project
is different and we tailor studies to specific design questions,
programme and risk management.
